Nova says: I once again feel that I'm not smart enough for this comic. Why do the clocks say different times?
thekit says: Because we always die at noon. The referee (at least I think that's what the bald guy is) sets the clock at 5 min to noon, and then gets the hell out of the way behind those spectator stands. I assume the spectator stands are about 45 degrees away from the line of fire, or there'll be some dead townsfolk before the end of the day. At "noon" the little table clock will chime and one or both of the contestants will shoot the other dead. The use of the little clock means you can have like 20 gunfights a day, back to back, and still have them all fight "at high noon." And the ref doesn't have to get his head blown off because he was standing in the middle as he would have to if he was going to yell "fire" and have both contestants hear it in the days before sound amplifiers.
Douglas says: Don't worry, Nova! All will be revealed soon enough!
McFrugal says: I imagine they're not doing the match at noon, for easier scheduling. Still, the smaller clock is set that way because that's the tradition. Always at noon. Even if it's not really noon.
McFrugal says: I don't see how the audience won't notice that.
papak: says: Where are all the updates? ive been looking forward to them
franc says: Is that it? Is that the end?
McGurker says: Sir, I'm rather fond of all your comics, I exist purely on the surreal.
drigz says: Every time I look at the last panel of the strip after he is declared the winner, the theme tune to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly starts in my head. About half the time I whistle it. I've tested this 5 times now...
Albans says: Only problem is, in real gunfights it usually does take a number of bullets to make someone stop moving, and unless you are lucky or just a really good shootist sometimes quite a lot of them. If his opponent has any experience at all, he knows not to turn his back after the first shot. So I'm not sure the scheme will really work.
The Artist says: My dear Albans, thanks for the benefit of your many years of gunfight experience! Luckily, this is just a made up gunfight, and not a real one, so things should be okay! Thank goodness for make believe, eh?
