G says: This is so great.
Jerry Hankenson says: Well, I may have predicted back in chapter 8 that this was just to get the money from the bet, now that the odds are stacked _for_ him winning.......but I did not predict that his eye would still be in that shape. His refusal to die seems to work far differently than I'd've guessed.
I says: It seems to I that his refusal to die is merely his soul possessing his rotting corpse. That wouldn't preclude injury. Also since his body is no longer alive it cannot heal itself.
Burning Umbrella says: Sterling work, sir, absolutely sterling.
thekit says: Romantic subplot? Strange to see it so late in such a tight story. I hope it ties into the main story of the Auditor coming for Pete Colby neatly.
Marki Queen says: A person whose souls continues to possess their body post-mortem is usually called a lich or liche in fantasy.
The Artist says: Really? I think we'll stick with calling ours Pete.
Anonymous says: The writer: We could start calling him a lychee. Highly underrated fruit, the lychee.
Billy Jim Books says: A liche (from German leiche) is by definition a corpse. Not a reanimated one, just a corpse. And lich in fantasy are far different from Pete Colby, though there is the one similarity of continuing to exist in their body after death.
James says: I'm allergic to lychees. And apples...
The Artist says: Well, there you go. No-one give James any lychees. Or apples...
Heath says: You've got a wonderful story going. It's well thought out. Although, did Pete and Murphy plan out the fake death in the last round, so that they could cash in on the higher odds when Pete became the favorite?
Lordlaneus says: Large-sums-of-cash, is by far my favorite credit card company. Large-sums-of-cash accepted every where
josh says: "A man should take a beating every now and then. If only to remind him the value of not getting caught." This so aptly glosses certain portions of my life. Thank you.
Rocco says: It saddens me that the RSS seems to be broken.
thekit says: the mouth kinda makes me think of David Bowie in space.
